Mizunara has been used since the 1930s and gives the whisky a unique set of flavours. The wood has extremely high levels of vanillins but is soft and very porous, making the casks made from mizunara oak very prone to leaking and easily damaged.
This Yamazaki single cask was distilled in 1986 and matured in a Mizunara butt#6G5029 until bottling in 2006. A 20 year old Mizunara single cask is rarely seen! This whisky was bottled for the 50th Anniversary of La Maison Du Whisky.
Only 405 bottles ever released!!!
