This release of Hanyu was a part of the Noh Series. Noh masks are one of the most important bits of the costumes in the Japanese drama theater act that is Noh. The masks themselves were hand carved from wood and have a consistency of bulging eyes and large mouths.
These masks represent different faces, such as ghosts, demons, goblins, old men, females and males. Most masks have been carved so the actor can change his character’s facial expression by just tilting his head so the audience sees a different angle of his mask.
